Stellar cartography

HABITABLE WORLDS CHART:
Hard to play a game about space travel without a map, right? Here’s a two-page PDF that uses a binary system as the backdrop of all currently habitable worlds in the ‘verse. Core worlds are around the primary star, and things get rougher the closer you get to the rim. Note: This is an overview map; for a more detailed map, scroll down. 1.1MB PDF.

THE BIG MAP: The big problem when dealing with interplanetary travel is that the bodies are always in motion; this poster-sized map will help your players figure out how long it’ll take to get from A to B — and it’ll look cool on any RPG table.

NEW BRUNSWICK, EZRA:
A quick sketch of a rough and tumble border town. Basic character bios and potential plot hooks included. The first file is the image. The second is annoted as a key or GM guide.

DANDELION STATION: Part way station, part come-as-you-are resort, this ‘truck stop in space’ has got more than one secret. An incredibly detailed backdrop for adventure by Lynn LeFey.

Resource guide for players, including coupons for shops.

A PLAYER’S INTRODUCTIONS TO THE ‘VERSE: Want to give your crew a quick shakedown of a few of the worlds? Here’s an in-character guide to some of the planets that characters may want to visit during their travels. It’s not made to be a complete guide, and only a sucker would pay more than a few credits for it....   worldguide.pdf

ASTEROID OUTPOST: Need a small hidey hole? What about a mysterious base out in the belt? Here’s a small, sealab-style asteroid base with adventure possibilities. This decomissioned Alliance facility started as a mining outpost before it was converted to a listening facility during the war.

Printing the map: The full map is roughly 2 feet x 5 feet. You can print out 8 tiles on standard letter sized paper, or download one big file to take to your local copy shop to print poster-sized (which I recommend).

Using the map: Roll a D12 to see where in orbit your planet of origin is (then mark it). Roll a D12 again to see where your destination planet is. Measure the distance in centimeters (you’ll need your own ruler), and that’s travel time in days for a Speed Class 1 vessel. Use the chart at the bottom to figure out your boat’s time.
